Five Ways to Win my Heart

For my day six writing challenge I am to write five ways to win my heart.

#1. Be Adventurous. I love outdoors, adventure and fun travelling. So, if a person can go with me anywhere that would be a big deal because I know he supports my passion. That will also be a great way to know each other better.

#2. Can talk to me about anything. This is important because honesty and authenticity pays so much. If you can share your thoughts, ideas or how you feel, whatever it is that would make us stronger I think.

#3. Make time. My love language is “quality time” so this is so important to me. Love spells Time right? No matter how busy or full your schedule is, the fact that you can set aside a time for me matters. That count the most!

#4. Make me laugh. This is easy because I laugh easily and I enjoy to be with a person that has a sense of humor. You know that atmosphere of joy a person have, brings a lighter mood no matter how chaos your day is. That is very attractive!

#5. Can pray for and with me. This matters to me because I know I can have a support not only emotionally but spiritually as well. When a person can pray, I believe no matter what challenges we will have he knows where to run to for help and that is amazing!

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Five Places I want to Visit

What’s your travel bucket list? If you are like me who has itchy feet like what my mom teased me, you like to wander and see amazing, beautiful destinations.

Being a Filipino, I admire the beautiful culture and places my country has to give. I want to go around from Luzon to Mindanao. But, for today’s writing challenge I am to write ‘five places I want to visit.’ I am choosing five countries instead, which I dream and want to set my foot into if God allows me too.

There are beautiful places in this planet and just to choose five is a bias. Ha ha! But, at the moment I am considering these five amazing countries.

1. Holy Land– I love God, enjoying reading His word and so to see and experience where Jesus was born, where He was baptized, where He prayed and everything about his life here on earth is a joy to discover. I want to set a foot on where He set His.
2. Nepal- This is a trekker’s paradise! To see the Himalayan view for a mountaineer like me is such a wonderful thing even just to set a foot on its hill is a dream come true! Together with its beautiful culture, wildlife and food this place has to give will be an exciting adventure!
3. South Korea– This place brings smile to me because I’ve been fond of Korean dramas, Korean foods and products. Visiting and immersing myself with their culture like what they portrait on their shows will be a great and memorable experience for me.
4. Iceland– Who wouldn’t want to see the Northern lights or Aurora Borealis right? These are one of nature’s most majestic artistic displays. Just seeing them on videos makes me in awe! How much more to see them with my own eyes! That would be so spectacular!
5. East Africa– I love nature and wildlife and to involve myself to a “Safari Journey” where I get to encounter these wild animals going about their daily lives, in their natural habitat would be a thrilling, unforgettable experience!

I am really ambitious when it comes to my bucket list isn’t it? Actually, for Nepal and South Korea I already set my mind in going to these countries, but unfortunately for Nepal, I got a problem on my schedule and even if I had the ticket for South Korea already we back off because of the schedules at work as well. But I am not giving up my hope to pray and believe that if God allows me to, he will in His perfect time. I am claiming to set my feet on these amazing, stunning places.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:8

Someone Who Inspires me

For over thirty years of existing here on earth I am so much blessed for meeting a lot of people, having lots of experiences and realizations. All these together inspires me in life.

Today, for my fourth writing challenge I will write about “Someone who inspires me.” Its a bit tough one because as I said there are a lot of things that inspires me the most.

As I’m pondering what to write this morning, I heard the “taho vendor” shouting “Taho! Taho!” and I always hear him everyday. I love this snack or treat in the morning, it is made from tofu, tapioca pearl and caramelized sugar! Yummy! Then in the afternoon I heard the fish vendor, call “isda, isda” and at night time, here comes manong balut vendor, hollering “balut! balut!” And the list of these vendors continue, I am hearing them everyday with different things or foods to sell.

These ordinary, hard-working, happy people are indeed inspiring! I came to realize that even if they don’t really got a high paying job, they spend their time walking carrying this stuff on their back, or pushing their carts loaded with things to sell, but you know what I observed most, I mean almost all these people have that beautiful smile on their faces, as if they’re not tired. Their auras are just so positive! Life is hard for them, but I learned not to pity them, but to regard them for their hard-work to earn money for their families.

Whenever I hear one of them shouting on our street, I buy from them sometimes, but I ought to utter a little prayer to each of them, like when I hear manong balut vendor at night, I pray he’ll be protected allthrough the evening selling and that he can sell all of those eggs. I do that to with the fish vendor and the others. I learned not to feel sorry for them but to admire them and support them too.

I hope I have a lot of money so I can just buy all their stuff . But, for now what I can do is to revere them for what they are, who they are and pray that they will always be successful in all that they do. And that they will always have good health and great foods on their tables.

So, that’s it! These amazing, ordinary people, sometimes, unseen by many or ignored by some are just encouraginging for me. The way they persevere in life, the way they strive and the endless hope they have even in this world of hopelessness still continue to fight and push harder, that I think is the most inspiring ever!

“We must learn to regard people less in the light of what they do or omit to do, and more in the light of what they suffer.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. … Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you. — Ephesians 4:32

My Top Three Pet Peeves

What are your pet peeves?

According to Wikipedia,  pet peeve, pet aversion, or pet hate is a minor annoyance that an individual identifies as particularly irritating to them, to a greater degree than would be expected based on the experience of others.

Everybody gets annoyed from time to time and there’s no exception for me. I am not trying to judge here. I am not perfect either but today’s writing challenge is to write my top 3 pet peeves. So, I don’t have a choice but to share it. Maybe I will be guilty here as well because what annoys me might also come out with me. Ha ha!

The challenge is top 3 pet peeves, meaning I will only be selecting 3 annoying habits but as I am thinking about it list goes on! *laugh! Anyway I am sharing the most common and front liner pet peeves for me.

  1. People saying “Let’s make plans” in Filipino term “drawing”. Drawing people are excited during the planning time but back out or make excuses that they can’t make it during the actual plan. That hurts right? You are excited to do it with them but then they leave you behind.
  2. People who are “brown noser” in Filipino term “sipsip”. They try to please person in authority just to get favor. These people for me are not really genuine; they resort to flattery or other ways just to stay in. I am a person that believes in favor, yes! But getting it in a way that you don’t cover up your sincerity.
  3. Constant cellphone distraction. I admit everyone is into it. We are in a digital world and everything is on our phones. But, I am annoyed when I am with my friends and talking and they can’t let go of their gadget. I’d rather have myself eat alone than to be in an invisible world. Just treasure people who are with you, don’t ignore them. Listening ear and being present all out is a gift treasured most.

Ta da!! So those are my list of pet peeves. I’ll be honest here. I am also guilty of doing those three! But the lesson here is, I want to learn and grow from these annoying habits. I want to be remembered as a person true to my word, authentic and valuing time with people. Let’s all grow together then!

“But to obtain these gifts, you need more than faith; you must also work hard to be good, and even that is not enough. For then you must learn to know God better and discover what he wants you to do.” 2 Peter 1:5

Someone who Stays

It’s my day 2 writing challenge. Just what I shared yesterday I will be into taking this challenge for the next 30 days. I am happy to do it although pressured at all because I need to really sit and think what to share and I hope it will be worth reading as well.

For day two I am to write something that someone told me about myself that I will never forget.

I am really thinking hard about this, it can be a word of encouragement, advice, or can also be criticism from someone that leaves an impact. As the day passed by I am really going through it but haven’t think of this specific idea. What came to my mind is a special friend who stood with me during one of the lowest point of my journey. And that will I share today.

I meet this beautiful lady when I was in college and eventually we became friends. She also attend the church where I go. We partnered in many activities in school because we have the same course, then worked together in our youth ministry at church. My family loves her too and we treat her as one of our family members.

Seasons passed and we separate ways because of work. Eventually we met again and lived in the same apartment with other kind and pretty ladies. This comes the time where I was brokenhearted and was so down emotionally. This is one of the saddest maybe depressing season in my life. I remember the day I arrived from work and just sat down at the sofa and really crying so hard. Regret and confusion overtakes my heart. Suddenly, the door opened and the lights were turned on and she came looking at me feeling sorry, she knew what is going on. She came and hugged me, comforted me with uplifting words (I don’t remember those anymore but it helps so much) and prayed for me. She just stayed there until I feel better. For months of moving on I know just by having her feels good.

She also introduced me to her hobby which is hiking. We climbed mountains together. I met a lot of people and conquered heights. One more thing is she invited me to her church in the city, that made a huge impact to me because I met spiritual sisters where I grow more in knowing God. Eventually I was healed not only from brokenness but from the lies of the enemy that I can’t move on. I did find hope and new perspective in life.

All of these happened because a friend stood by me all along. I will be forever grateful for her life.

This friend and sister is no other than Yao Daisy!

Sharing some of our pictures together. 😊

10 Things that Makes Me Happy

Today is the first day of September. I don’t know how I feel but its been six months that we are under community quarantine here in my country because of the virus Covid-19. I am learning to really live in this new normal; with all the restriction and caution implemented.

I don’t want to be bored and just let the month pass by without having something fun and worthwhile to do. So, I will try to start a 30-day writing challenge this month. I have this blog but honestly, I don’t post everyday, but I will push myself and try it this month. This challenge was taken from pinterest and I am excited to engage myself in it.

For day 1 I need to list 10 things that make you really happy.

Its a lovely life isn’t it if you always fill your life with gratitude and joy that brings happiness? So, let’s start with these simple things that makes me happy.😊

1. A time for “me time”, this part of the day where I can just pause and sip hot, milky and sweet drinks. It can be, coffee, tea or chocolate. I love to do it early in the morning or after a day full of work. It’s a good good thing for me!

2. Changing bed sheets and curtains. I don’t always do this everyday but at least once a month. It excites me to change beds and curtains, it just feels so good to sleep after that. Who wouldn’t want a good sleep; a happy sleep with new sheets on bed right?

3. Preparing my dish. The way I cook my food is unique, I’m kind of more on experimenting flavors, but I’m happy with its taste. And when I prepare them on the table even with just simple plate and bowls, the presentation makes me eat happily. Happy tummy, happy body! 🙂

4. Buying books. I usually buy on “book sales” or second hand bookstores. I love collecting books, inspirational books to be specific. Even if I don’t read it yet, just the experience that I have the book I wanted brings me joy! 😍

5. Selah time. You know “Selah” in the Bible means pause. So, this stopping moment in my life where I just sit quietly and stare at the sky, or look at the moon or watch sunset or sunrise makes me refresh and I feel good after. I feel energized and happy.

6. Planting/Gardening. Cactus, succulents or any leafy plants makes my heart flutter. I don’t know if I’m a green thumb person but I think I got this love for plants from my mama. I remember when I was high school I think, I ended up landscaping the side of our house and filling it with plants and they live till now. I really love green things so this planting hobby makes me satisfied.🌼

7. Travelling. This motivates my life. seeing different places, emerging in their culture, its a relaxation and a treasure money can’t buy. I think I don’t need to emphasize this more because I believe you will agree with me that taking a trip makes you happy. 😄

8. Mountain climbing. Same as travelling, conquering heights gives that feeling of achievement where I can say I push myself and reach the top. It’s a cloud nine thing!

9. Time with family and friends. One of my love language is quality time. This is so valuable and really makes me happy. Just spending a cup of coffee with my loved ones, watching TV, or just the mundane thing with talks and laughter matters most. Love is spelled time right? So, this delights my heart indeed!

10. Talking, spending time with God. This weight the most! Not only brings me happiness but real and just authentic joy. Praying, reading His word and journaling cannot replace all the list I wrote here. If I don’t have Jesus with me, travelling, planting, hiking all of that will not satisfy me. My happiness is found in Jesus alone. You know the feeling where you pray and read your Bible and end up ecstatic? Irreplaceable! If I have this time all the nine are a bonus in between.

God’s Care for Us

Try to look back the time where Adam and Eve walked in the garden and willfully disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit. And the disobedience led to lies and blame-shifting.

Still, God loved and cared for them. He sacrificed animals in order to clothe them. “The Lord made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.” Gen.3:21 How good is that right? They have disobeyed God but look at how God cared for them after all.

Later, a much greater kind of love He provided for us; salvation to all sinners like us through the sacrifice of His Son. John 3.16.

He loves you and me that much!

Prayer for my Future Husband

This journal on praying for my future husband was written August of 2015. So, It’s been 5 years ago. I don’t know where I read this, but I know this has been a prayer I do from time to time whenever I remember to do so. Honestly, there are a lot of good men, good friends that have been potentially, or maybe I consider to be one of them, but until now, its been a mystery.

So, I am sharing this prayer to all my single friends who are patiently waiting for that man that God prepared for them. This has been written on my journal or I labeled it as “Letters for You” this will be given to my future husband if God will allow me too. Whether I meet him on this earth or in heaven, I will forever be grateful for I already find my JOY in Jesus. So, I am resting on Him and surrendering all to him, even this desire to be married.

Here it goes….

PRAYER FOR MY FUTURE HUSBAND

Dear Lord,

It’s so amazing that you can see my future husband now. You know him. You love him.

Lord, since you know the man you have designed for me (the one who will read this someday) I pray that any other relationship will be unappealing to him. I pray that if he is giving away a part of his heart, his emotions, or his body, you will show him your better way.

I pray that if my future husband doesn’t know you yet, you will bring him into your forever kingdom. I pray that my future husband will seek you with all his heart. I pray that your Holy Spirit will draw him to you and that his heart will be softened and ready to surrender to you.

So, many things in this world draw us away from you. I pray that my future husband will not be distracted by the truth. May he discover that you are the lover of his soul and that his most important relationship is the one he has with you. I pray that no matter what his friends are doing he will turn to you and that you will be the most important person in his life. May his heart be full of you that he doesn’t need anything or anyone else until the time you appoint to bring me into his life. And for everyday of his life hold him in the palm of your hand

Amen.

So, that’s it. No matter where that person be, just know that you matter and loved.

A Perfect Relationship

Everyone longs to be in a relationship that will bring them so much love and joy. Who wouldn’t want to have one right?

I dreamed of that kind of person to stay with me forever. Who would understand me, all the good and the bad. I had met people that at first showed me really that kind of love, Oh! It’s the best feeling ever! But then, comes the chaos in between, the sweet words ended with harsh ones, the promises started to be broken, the trust faded away. That breaks my picture of a perfect relationship.

Yes! There is no such thing as “perfect relationship” even the kindest partner you can meet will also fail on that. But I believe that there is such a perfect person that can give us that kind of love, that kind of relationship that will last forever even for eternity.

Yes! His name is Jesus, you have heard His name, called to Him when you pray, trusted Him when troubles and challenges come. But, the question is do you have a personal, intimate relationship with this person?

I met this man called Jesus when I was a kid, at Sunday school, I know that when I pray I will call on His name. But it’s just that way. Then came a time in my life that I really encountered Him personally, when a man whom I love broke my heart! That hurts, I thought that this life has no more purpose at all but Jesus met me at that lowest point of my life where I thought nobody cares, nobody loves a mess like me anymore. But, He did. I cried and asked Him to just give my life a purpose and a meaning. Not just to work and earn, not just to find true love, or have all that I wanted in life. I wanted a deeper purpose in life. A peace, a joy that is permanent. And I find that when I asked Jesus to be a part of my daily life. I asked him to forgive me of all my sins, yes I do mess a lot and will still be sinning but He is the person that can love me despite all those ugly parts of me. Remember the cross? That is where he nailed all your SINS! Because He LOVES you!

I know you can find that in Jesus, a love that no earthly person can give you. Ask Jesus to come into your life, and change you from the inside out.

If you want to have that perfect relationship. You can pray this prayer with me.

Lord, I want to have a perfect relationship, I couldn’t find it here on earth. But, I believe you are the one who can give me that. Forgive me for all my sins. Thank you for dying on the cross for all my sins. I now receive you as my personal Lord and Savior. Change me from the inside out. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

You know that when you prayed that prayer, Jesus is smiling back at you now, all the angels in the heavens are rejoicing! Close your eyes and imagine God is embracing you so tight and telling you He loves you that much! Feel that, hold on to that because that is truth!

Start living that perfect relationship with the perfect man. Jesus is the giver of love that is perfect beyond measure.

You are now a new person in God’s eyes. A new life has begun for you.

“So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, everything old has passed away, everything becomes new!” 2 Corinthians 5:17.
